Academic Scholarships

At Soo Yuen, we uphold the Chinese principle of valuing education as the best means of shaping a person into a contributing member of society. For this reason, we began the annual Soo Yuen Scholarship program for high school students. Scholarships acquired through the program are to be used to fund college and other expenses as students graduate. We prioritize academic excellence and a willingness to contribute to the student’s community in awarding Soo Yuen Scholarships.

Our program has been resoundingly successful. Many recipients have achieved illustrious careers in the American mainstream. One of the most prominent is Professor Steven Louie of the UC Berkeley Dept. of Physics, who was installed as a member of the US Academy of Sciences in 2005.

2026 Soo Yuen Scholarship

The 2026 Soo Yuen Scholarship is open for applications. To apply, please fill out and send the form below to scholarships[at]sooyuen.org no later than 5:00pm on Monday, January 12, 2026.

All applicants must appear for the scholarship interview, which takes place at the San Francisco association (806 Clay St, San Francisco, CA 94108) at 9:00am on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

All applicants must also appear for the Scholarship Award Ceremony at the San Francisco association on Monday, February 23, 2026 (time TBA).
